Feature Request: Add a Native "Read Aloud" Button for Opera Android Web Pages

      Hello Opera Team,

I am a long-time Opera user and I would like to suggest a feature that could make Opera Android one of the most accessible and innovative mobile browsers:

A native "Read Aloud" function for web pages.

      The idea is simple:

When a user opens an article or a webpage, Opera could provide a button that reads the page aloud using a natural voice.

Why this feature would be valuable

Many users would benefit from this:

      • People who have reading difficulties.
      • People who experience eye fatigue.
      • Students who want to review educational content.
      • Users who want to consume information while walking, travelling, exercising, or doing other activities.
      • Anyone who prefers listening instead of reading long articles.

The web is becoming increasingly rich in information, but reading everything on a small screen is not always practical.

      Suggested experience

A simple speaker button inside Opera:

      ▶ Start reading

      The feature could include:

      • Natural voices.
      • Speed adjustment.
      • Multiple languages.
      • Pause and resume.
      • Background playback.
      • Highlighting the sentence being read.
      • Automatic detection of the main content.
      • Ignoring advertisements, menus, and unnecessary elements.

Why Opera is the right browser for this

Opera already focuses on innovation with features like AI integration, privacy tools, and productivity features.

A powerful Read Aloud mode would perfectly match this vision and could become a unique advantage compared with other browsers.

It would make Opera more accessible, more useful for students, and more comfortable for everyday browsing.

Thank you for considering this suggestion.

I hope this feature can become part of a future Opera Android update.

        @Wantou For now you can:

Long press on a text area
        Click on the three dots
        Click on select all
        Three dots again
        Click on read aloud
