Difficulties including tabs in an island

Hi there,
Is it just me who has issues with the island tabs?! It doesn't seem to be intuitive.
I would like to create an island tab and then add tabs to it. That simple but it is not. I have to contend with a + symbol and a o symbol that jumps or adds a search tab?!
I've tried to drag the cursor over the tabs to the right of it hoping they will be added to the tab but, nope. It either creates another tab, creates a search tab or nothing happens?!?!?
Is there simply, dummy way to create an island tab, add stuff and then close it?Thank you in advance.
BTW I searched on YouTube and there a couple of people who posted a video but just as confusing or incomplete to be of help.
I only have the regular browser (Whatever that means) -

@edstorm80 By default, if you just open a link in a new tab, Opera automatically creates a tab island.
To include a tab from outside of the island in the island, you can right click on the outside tab and use the move to menu
