Alt+T is opening tabs?..conflicting with browser app keyboard shortcut

Hello everyone,
I'm a long-time Opera user but can't say I'm advanced, e.g. don't edit flags or use multiple profiles. I'm up against a weird issue that I'm reluctant to post here about but I just can't figure it out myself. I have disabled all extensions, disabled ad/tracker blocker, haven't edited any flags that I remember, disabled my AV, and the problem persists. I admit that I haven't reset to default settings or created a clean profile because to be honest I have too much set up in Opera at the moment that my work depends on to risk screwing anything up. If I have to I'll live with not solving this.
It's simply this: A new browser-based program I'm using uses Alt+T for a very commonly used keyboard shortcut, and my Opera is opening a new tab when I hit Alt+T so the program in the browser doesn't receive the keystrokes. I land on a new tab instead. I'm trying to figure out if this is default behavior in Opera - I don't think it is - and if not, how to remove it to make room for the browser-based program to receive the keyboard shortcut.
Any ideas, other than resetting to default and/or creating a clean profile?
Thanks and kind regards.

A thousand thanks. I'd never seen that part of settings and don't use tab islands - the shortcut was 'open new tab in island'.
I really appreciate your help, just tested my software and the keyboard shortcut acts as expected.
Mark as solved!
