      Hello everyone,

What’s been driving me up the wall lately is that in the latest Opera Stable, there’s no longer a “Show news” toggle—you only get the dreaded “Show selected content”, which means the Opera team decides what I see. Meanwhile, in Opera Beta and Opera Developer, I can personalize my news feed exactly how I like it.

I miss having full control over my news. It’s like being handed a mystery-flavor jellybean and told to enjoy it—only to find out it’s Brussels sprout. 🥴 I want the buffet back, not a single pre-plated serving!

      My suggestion:
Restore the original “Show news” option in the next Stable update, so users can choose their own topics and sources. Let us power-users have our cake—and decide its flavor ourselves.

If you agree, please give this post an up-vote or drop a comment. Let’s make sure Opera hears us loud and clear: we want personalized news, not editorial hand-outs!

Thanks for reading—and thanks in advance for your support! 😊

      – A long-time Opera fan who just wants to read what I choose.

        Hi Mrowa,

I’ve been a loyal Opera user for years, but the recent removal of the “Show news” toggle in the Stable version feels like a step backwards. Now, with only the “Show selected content” option, it’s Opera picking what shows up in my feed—not me. Meanwhile, both the Beta and Developer versions still allow full customization, which makes this limitation in Stable even more frustrating.

For those of us who care about the content we consume, this change strips away the sense of control that made Opera feel user-focused. It’s like being handed a preset playlist when all you want is to pick your own songs. The charm of Opera has always been its flexibility, and this change chips away at that.

I strongly urge the Opera team to bring back the original “Show news” setting in the Stable build. Let users decide what news they see—after all, isn’t that the whole point of a personalized feed? If you agree, give this post a thumbs up or leave a comment so we can be heard.

        Regards
