I don't have many bookmarks in the unsorted section but I do have several hundred bookmarks that are sorted. I have no problems when searching for bookmarks. That said, I'm using Opera Dev version 28, so I guess thats not very helpful.

          @milooshea

What happened to the new speed dial page, to which I'd just accustomed and had nicely organised? Now it's disappeared and my speed dial icons no longer fit on one screen and I have to scroll down. V annoying.

You may want to try unchecking "Use big Speed Dial thumbnails" in the settings. I know it won't bring the modern icons back (which I liked but not for all pages) but it'll give you more space. You can also play with zoom on the Speed Dial (Ctrl +, - and Ctrl+0) or set the manual size in the advanced settings.

Oh you can also remove the search field above the Speed Dial to get more space with a hidden power users settings (it's enabled by clicking in empty space in the settings page and typing the Konami Code), you can also remove bottom navigation bar with the flag for now.

          @fersnake

anyone knows how to change the speed dial image?

Not very practical right now but works: https://forums.opera.com/post/41282

Thank you, lando. Not sure what I clicked on, but my command bars are in POLISH. How do I undo this?

Hovering doesn't give me the language choices again.

Wow. Too bad Firefox is so screwed up.

Should be under Opera>Settings>Browser>Select user interface language.
              (Alt+P then sixth item down.)

You can't remove, you can just revert back to the old style.
Go to opera:flags, search for webui navigation and disable it.

Thank you Very much for this tip.

Thank you, davehawley. No, it was marked as English there.

It was also marked as English under 'Overview', even though the commands were in Polish.

So I clicked on German and then on English, and whatever glitch brought me to Polish was back in English.

Another question: why is there no 'contact us' button for questions? Is Opera a vast wasteland? Aren't there actual people running this thing who can receive a question and answer it?

I know Google couldn't care less about its customers, and doesn't provide a 'contact us' button, but I thought Opera was more user friendly.

Opera doesn't offer this kind of support. Opera's support is trough these forums, with users helping each other although some Opera's employees may answers questions sometimes.

Is there any easy way of getting rid of the Google search box on the speed dial page? I never search Google direct because of security but use www.startpage.com

If I could remove Google search could get a few more tiles on

Any ideas? - OK if its coming later - I can wait!

Go to settings > Enable the power user mode if needed > check "Hide the search box in Speed Dial".

You need to enter the konami code in settings page to enable the power user mode.

Why was this changed? I used the old first version of speeddial. With easy configurations and adjustments for every dial.
I used a certain logo for every dial and i could sort them how I wanted to have them.

Now I should read links with a magnifying glass, because there are no more thumbs with own pictures, that are easy to identify. There are now mini-pages u have to remember first - |what could this be?| - and to identify.

                              Thats not a SPEED-Dial anymore, its a SLOW-Dial now.

In germany we would say: Verschlimmbessern! : Good thought - bad performed.

Just make a selection to disable this |speed|-dial and the possibility to choose another one...

Enabling Power User Settings in Opera

                                    1. Visit opera://settings page

                                    2. Make sure the mouse cursor is not in the search box under Settings,

                                    3. Now type ↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← β†’ ← β†’ b a

                                    4. Opera shows a power user settings dialog, and warns you β€˜these settings are hidden for a reason, they can severely mess up browser and we can take no responsibility or performance of the product after proceeding. "

                                    5. You've read that, now click on "I, understand , Proceed"

Thanks everyone for the advice in this thread. My Speed Dial page is looking much better now thanks to the tips in this thread. One question though; how do you remove the "+" box at the bottom of the Speed Dial?

In Opera 12 you used to just click the spanner and hide it but I can't find the option in Opera 27?

                                          Hello
I like opera spead dial, even in V.27, my problem is that i am gong to format my pc, and i would lie to "transfer" all opera data, or at least the spead dial, and i canΒ΄t find a way to do it. Is there a way to do a backup?
                                          Best regards

Yup. Its super simple. Just make a copy of the user data folder. When you install Opera on your fresh Windows install just copy the new folder over the old one.
