          Yes, you can in Web Inspector.

          1. Select Elements
          2. Select HTML element you want to edit
          3. Context menu "Edit as HTML"

          But this is only on your computer, you dont change the HTML of webpage permanently.

            Gwen, I've followed your instruction, above, and have made the changes I want; but, it won't let me save them. As you say, "you don't change the HTML of the webpage permanently." I even tried Opera, Page, Save as... and, though it allows you to hit Save, it does not save the file to the harddrive.

            What good is an edit capability when you can't save the edits?

                Opera is not designed as a website/-page editor.

                What good is an edit capability when you can't save the edits?

                For testing and debugging webpages on the fly.

                  Well, it does still show you which CSS styles are being applied to the selected element, and from which of your style definitions they came; that remains very helpful, even crucial.
