I finally switched to the new Opera as copypaste with 12.16 on Linux started breaking more and more frequently. I knew that it doesn't have all of the cool features of the old one, but the number of missing features is getting depressing. They're all fairly minor, but with most browsers these days being clones of each other anyway, it's the minor features that really differentiate them.
Bookmarks sidebar. It was very useful for going through my list of webcomics.
Tab stacking. I used it a lot when I wanted to leave a group of tabs for later so they would only take a single tab's worth of space.
Pasting a link by middle-clicking anywhere on speed dial. Much faster than having to aim for the address field.
Customizable shortcuts. I'd like to switch tabs with ctrl+pageup/pagedown, thanks. The advanced shortcuts setting puts it on 1 and 2, which stop working as soon as there's a focused text field on a tab.
The tab list popup with ctrl+tab. With a lot of tabs open, it was useful to see the full titles of all of them.
Tab switching with rmb+wheel. Since a mouse is pretty much required to browse the web anyway, it's nice to be able to quickly switch tabs without moving my hand to the keyboard.
Fully customizable search engines. Apparently the default ones are sacred and I'm not allowed to touch them. I'd like to have w search the English wikipedia instead of the one for my local language.
Built-in content blocking. I guess I can install AdBlock Plus to work around this.
Oh, and what's with this forum and not being able to use the wheel to scroll up and down in the text area while writing a message?

(the current restrictions are annoying, to put it mildly. i never use google, and don't want to be reminded of that crap whenever i open a new tab. i just want them out of my sight, and i want opera to respect that!)Built-in content blocking. So it took 2 years and 11 versions for the opera to reach linux and as I feared it doesn't even start to have the features that defined opera and were the reasons I've chosen opera in the first place.
The new opera is not much more than a skin for chromium that I dislike much.
Opera is of no use to me without the sidebar, gestures, tab stacking, middle click paste'n' go in the background of any page and much more. I'm afraid these are not coming back any time soon if ever, I guess for now I'm stuck with the real opera and have to get started in firefox extensions to try to replicate in firefox what was in opera.

good news! the sidebar is back, tab stacking is back, and much more to come.

i have another wish to add: more options in the print interface. for instance a "reverse output order" checkbox, so that i no longer have to use the system's printing dialog.

I miss those things too. I searched for "block content" and didn't find this post, so I posted in another discussion, in which I mention the "save session" option too.
