opera not downloading all kinds of files

i am on linux mint 21.1 still using opera version 99.0.4788.31 because on later versions any form of videos stop working, everything was fine until a couple weeks ago
but my downloads are stuck at 100% and 0 kb/s download speed now, nothing is created in the downloads directory i found the problem im having in this thread https://forums.opera.com/topic/44102/opera-can-t-download-a-file-what-to-do
but it isnt for linux,i tried deleting cookies and nothing changed,
and the download doesnt always show in the "downloads" section and the only indication i have is this
dowloading files throught incognito however, works just fine,it isnt an issue with the VPN or any extension that i have this just started happening on its own
id previously have success in the downloads working if i restarted opera a couple times and quickly rushed to the download link and pressed download and itd start working but this doesnt work anymore
i cleared my downloads and that didnt solve it too
any help is appreciated

@entomashadoll If nobody else provides a useful answer, then I would suggest you try a newer version of opera. There are ways of fixing the "videos won't work"-problem; they are described in this forum. They work nicely for me (most recent linux mint, cinnamon). Maybe a newer opera fixes your problem?
But please use timeshift before installing a new opera; this will make it easy to go back to your old opera if the new one cannot fix your download-issues and/or you cannot fix the video-problem.

@sorenfeodor thx, the reason i havent fixed the issue i get on updating opera with videos is because i did look it up and it looks like id take a long time to do it

@entomashadoll If you install Opera from deb package the newer versions of Opera does not play videos because it does not bundle the working ffmpeg lib. Then to fix it, you just copy the libffmpeg from the snap chromium-ffmpeg installation.
If you install snap Opera, it will play all videos.
So, you can try the latest snap Opera, however I much prefer the deb package Opera because is much faster. -

@entomashadoll For me the difficult part is getting the libffmpeg-file.
https://github.com/Ld-Hagen/fix-opera-linux-ffmpeg-widevine has a script doing it all for you; get the ligffmpeg and copy it to the right lcoation. You run it every time you update opera. Or you could try the snap-version (as wonghow suggests) or the flatpack-version. Mint prefers flatpaks to snaps, but my experience with the opera flatpak was not good.
As long as you make a timeshift snapshot before changing anything you can always go back
