Opera GX freezing after about a minute?

Hi. I've never had any issues with gx so far and i love it. I've been using it since release and never looked back.
However, today I've started to have a problem when using GX. After around 1-2 minutes of having opera open, it completely freezes and becomes unresponsive. In task manager i can see at least 20 processes open (which I'm not sure i had before). I'm not using any limiters, and this happens at random even when I'm not actually doing anything, regardless of which tab I have open or how many. It happens even in speed dial.
The only thing i noticed was that at first my mouse froze too but my system didn't, and after unplugging and replugging the mouse hasn't had any problems. I'm also seeing some opera update processes in task manager so maybe this is a failed update or some such issue? I honestly cannot check it since it freezes if I'm not quick enough even in settings.
