I've been facing an issue with my Opera browser on Windows recently. When I try to load certain web pages, they either load extremely slowly or not at all. This problem seems to be specific to Opera, as other browsers work fine on my system. I've tried clearing the cache, disabling extensions, and even reinstalling Opera, but the issue persists.

Additionally, I've noticed that some secure (HTTPS) websites are showing a connection error, even though they open without any problem in other browsers. I've checked my internet connection, and it's stable.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem with Opera on Windows? Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot and resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated! I'm using the latest version of Opera on Windows 10. Thank you in advance for your help.

@kimkorton I have been having the same issue. I hope someone drops in to help soon or I may have to abandon Opera altogether.

@kimkorton I am experiencing the same problem. I have to re-enter the page several times for it to open. A commercial website where I wanted to buy something actually blocked me. I do not have this problem with Edge. This is a recent problem - within the past 1-2 weeks.

@kimkorton I'm having the same problem. It was working until about a month ago. I use the VPN (the free one) extensively, but turning it off doesn't seem to help. I also tried removing and re-installing and that did nothing. I hope someone in support can help. They certainly do not respond to FB messages.

I'm experiencing the same issues was mentioned above, It's almost like corrupt cookies but it's not related to cookies. I'm very curious as to what's going on

@kimkorton, I have been facing this issue for quite a while now, and I might have found a solution. I figured entering the IP address of a website instead of its domain name (like google.com) would make it load and sure enough, it opened, which points to the DNS settings within the browser

                    67b22a2d-c9f3-4c54-a27e-f6ac3b2c3cf8-image.png
I then disabled DNS over HTTPS which solved the issue for me. Try doing the same

You can try disabling all of your extentions and see if that fixes the issue

@kimkorton Were you able to solve it?

My Opera started having this ugly behavior a few weeks ago. A few times every couple of hours, when clicking something in a web page, it just keeps loading forever, or perhaps the home page itself never finishes loading at all.
Sometimes stopping and reloading the page works, sometimes a new tab does, and sometimes an incognito window does.
At first I thought it was my ISP, but then I tried other browsers and they work just fine.
Unfortunately it's not easy to replicate: it's like if at some point Opera just gets tired and doesn't want to load anything for several seconds.
I disabled the very few extensions I have but the problem remains.

                        Is anyone else experiencing this?

The same issue here. I tried also disabling all extensions and DNS and the problem persists. I have notice that the problem is quite obvious when using the search box in shopping pages like amazon.

I entered the developer console when pages are not charging, and in all of them this message appear

Chrome is moving towards a new experience that allows users to choose to browse without third-party cookies.

Maybe it is not related with the issue but just in case it can help to fix the problem

The same problem appeared at the end of 2024 and is still not solved for me, the latest updates did not solve it. Disabling extensions did not help, I tried to enable and disable different flags related to cookies, did not help, DNS over HTTPS was disabled for me initially, a very incomprehensible problem, makes me leave Opera. As was said above, the problem with endless loading can be easily provoked if you use the search form inside sites like Amazon Aliexpress, etc., but even without this, sites often refuse to load, while in other browsers everything works perfectly.

@aleksr2 Hi, I ended up uninstalling Opera and then reinstalled it. The version I had apparently couldn't be updated normally. I haven't had any problems since then.

But did you lose all your profile data, like history, cookies, etc.? Because I think the issue is there somewhere. Trying a separate portable Opera version seems to work just fine.

Hi, no, unfortunately even a complete uninstall did not fix the problem for me. I completely uninstalled Opera, along with user data (user folders and cache), rebooted the PC and installed the latest version of Opera from scratch, after that I went to a site where I can easily reproduce the problem with endless loading and it repeated again on a completely clean browser without any data, based on which I conclude that the reason is in the browser itself. Google Chrome works correctly on the same sites.

@aleksr2 Kaspersky is known to cause issues like that. If you have it, to test if it's the cause, you have to temporarily uninstall it (disabling it isn't enough). Some system-wide VPNs can cause the issue too. In those cases, you also have to uninstall them and not just disable them to test if they're the cause or not. All of those can sometimes affect just Opera and not Chrome.

@burnout426 hello, thank you very much, it seems you are absolutely right, I had Kaspersky installed, after disabling it, on those sites where I reproduced the "endless loading" problem, everything started working as correctly as on Chrome, which is strange because Kaspersky should have had the same effect on Chrome and Opera, and this was misleading. It is unclear why such a problem occurs in combination with Kaspersky and Opera.

That's interesting. I also have Kaspersky and of course I tried disabling it, which didn't help, but I also tried a standalone portable Opera instance, and it worked just fine! So I assumed it was something related to my installation or profile.

Anyway, I think it's been several days since the last time I had this issue, so maybe either Opera or Kaspersky got updated and this "duo" now works fine? I'll keep my fingers crossed...

Same thing has been happening to me recently. Not exactly sure what's casusing it but feels like a cookies problem. Tried to enable 3rd-party cookies to see if it resolves this issue but Opera never saves the setting I choose for it. Keeps reverting back to disable 3rd-party cookies.

For now, I will stop using Opera until whenever this gets resolved. Been using Firefox and have no problems.
