Importing Chrome bookmarks fails

I've tried importing Chrome bookmarks directly by choosing Chrome and by importing from an HTML file exported from Chrome. Both ways, I get an indication that an import is in progress, but that never finishes and can't be canceled. The only option is to use Windows Task Manager to stop Opera.
I'm running both browsers' Windows versions in the current builds on Windows 11 on an HP laptop. Anyone have any ideas?
