can we just spam opera support with what is basically "why did you think this update was ok?" Because I've seen talk of alot of people leaving opera GX because of this update alone.

for some reason, the opera gx splash screen always shows up on startup
this is really annoying for me because for some reason a guy the logo gets crossed out and a guy starts screaming? (im not sure why this is, prolly some update)
It's also disable IN my settings, so im not sure why it still appears
it's pretty loud and id like to remove it -

Anyone know when they plan to remove eric andre from jump scaring me everytime i open the browser? I will be downloading and using another browser because I am such an easy jumpscare and the loud noise from the X eyes makes me jump every. single. time. I can only imagine those with cardiac issues having to endure the constant jump scares

The last thing I need to hear is Andre shrieking every time I start up Opera GX. Until the update where this stupid thing started I never used to get the startup every time I opened OGX...just the first time. Now I I can't close the window without having to hear that garbage upon opening it again. It's almost as if the intent was to irritate users because it. Is. obnoxious. I hate it. It actually pisses me off every time it happens.

@maxiy Apparently my GX hasn't updated yet - or it's over already. Most likely the former. Any of you who want to see it, go to About Opera and let it update. Those who want it to go away - see instructions given earlier. (If using Search, you may need to allow it to search in hidden folders.)

Yes, same here. Now there is a loud obnoxious clown that screams like maniac every time I open the browser!
I wonder if I can sue for mental harassment?
Nothing turns it off - not the experimental #tags, not turning off the splash screen as shown above... nothing.
I'm very angry!

@tomhan I tried that already. It doesn't work. It just signed me out of all my pages and made it so that it no longer preloads the tabs.

@makezu
Does not disable the splash-screen!Please turn OFF this feature permanently! I'm seriously considering suing Opera for affecting my mental health!!! Also suing for all the damage done to the VERY expensive items now broken for the jump-scare screaming clown!

@teletesselator Per instructions elsewhere, go to Opera's program directory (as listed in Help > About Opera) and delete the file opera_gx_splash.exe. No splash screen until the file is replaced in the next update - and that one won't scream at you.

Please tell me how to stop the annoying new popup when ever I open opera gx. It was funny the first time but now it's just annoying and noisy.

I would like to voice my extreme dissatisfaction on the fact that there's absolutely no way to disable that horrible heart-attack inducing jumpscare of a startup in the settings and the fact that it occurs every single time you open GX and the fact that you can't even mute it by muting GX from the volume mixer
Wtf opera why did you do this? are you purposely trying to piss off whatever GX userbase you have left?

@sgunhouse Please mr. moderator, please tell your higher ups at opera that this was a horrible idea and that they should never do this again.

Thank you ! It was funny the first time and I really tried to get use to it. But, for one, it ignores the preferences as stated by the OP (slows down the browser opening) and it gets quite annoying as someone who closes my software.

It just happened again. Switching browsers. This is ridiculous. Are the opera team stuck in the 2000's with the fullpage max volume flash intros? Who thought this was a good idea?
Honestly unless these 'features' are fixed I'm not coming back.
- Sidebar re-enabling itself after every update
- Splash screen reappearing after every update
- Newly introduced sound features being enabled at maximum volume whenever they are added
- Childish jumpscare bullshit

Hey there. Hope you're doing alright. Before this gets deleted I just wanted to say:
- The startup sound is terrible. Ditch it. Don't ever do a startup sound for a browser.
- (1) was all I wanted to say, but to say it took: (a) registration with an email; (b) no less than two crashes from the Opera browser along the way; (c) consent for some stuff I didn't want to consent to, just so I could write some stuff I don't care that much about.
Well, it's been disappointing guys. There aren't that many good browsers out there these days, and I regret to inform you that this is not one of them. Back to Firefox I guess? I had hoped for too much I suppose. (Also, just dump that startup sound.)
