Hi. Due to some problem, I have to uninstall my opera browser. Unfortunately, I did forgot to backup my bookmarks
I tried to sync, the bookmarks still gone.
When uninstall opera, I didn't delete anything manually. Is there any posibility that opera still save my old bookmarks somewhere in my computer? How do I restore it?

You can look in "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable" for a "Bookmarks" file and a "Bookmarks.bak" file.
You can open them in a text editor to see if it looks like your bookmarks are there. If so, copy those files to your desktop as a backup. Then, just temporarily install Opera and they should show up in Opera at the URL
opera://bookmarks
. You can then use the drop-down at the bottom left of that page to export your bookmarks to an HTML file that can be imported into the browser of your choice. -

@burnout426 !
Thank you. I then browse to the folder you provide, but I can't find neither bookmark folder, nor bookmark files.image_2023-10-24_113911604.png
*there's 2 screenshoots. I wonder why the other one did not appear, but you can click the screenshoot name above.

@hantuuu Try this way:
-
Make a test standalone installation of Opera to a folder named "Opera Test" on your desktop.
-
Close that Opera.
-
In the profile/data/default folder in the "Opera Test" folder, replace its "Bookmarks" and "BookmarksExtras" files with copies of the copies you found in Default.old.
-
In the "Opera Test" folder, double-left-click on launcher.exe to start that Opera.
-
Goto the URL
opera://bookmarks
and confirm that your bookmarks are in there somewhere. -
Click the drop-down at the bottom left of the bookmarks page and choose to export your bookmarks to bookmarks.html.

@hantuuu In short, that Reddit link just says to download the USB/Portable version of Opera and install it to a folder on your desktop.

@hantuuu Go in the "profile" folder, then the "data" folder, then the "Default" folder. Then you should see the "Bookmarks" and "BookmarksExtras" files.

thankyou. I got them, now what to do? copy those bookmark to my original opera installation folder? Because if I'm using the standalone, I can't import the bookmark to my other browser

Yes. That's one way. The other way would be to goto the URL
opera://bookmarks
in the standalone installation, click the drop-down at the bottom left and export the bookmarks to an HTML file. Then in your normal Opera, goto the URLopera://settings/importData
, choose "Bookmarks HTML file" in the drop-down and import the HTML file. Then, goto the URLopera://bookmarks
and move them where you want.That 2nd method would be better if you have existing bookmarks in your regular Opera that you want to keep.

Hi, I'm kinda having the same issue with this, but when I tried to enter the url, it shows that my file was either deleted or moved, but I haven't manually deleted anything. Is there a way to fix it?

@issy-moods4ever In "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming", do you have an "Opera Software" folder? If so, is there an "Opera Stable" folder in it? If so, in the "Opera Stable" folder, do you see a "Bookmarks" file and or a "Bookmarks.bak" file?
