Earlier today while not using opera I received a pop up re. using opera vpn.
I closed it and the browser opened. When it did all of my info. was gone. Tabs, bookmarks and history.
I do not understand the fixes that have been posted. Would it be possible for someone to post step by step instructions?
Thanks. -

Opened opera to a new version of opera one. Lost all my history, bookmarks, tabs and extensions. this is the first time I lost everything. I logged in, didn't get anything back. Same state as installing opera for the first time.

Here is how I got my bookmarks back after the latest update:
Open the file manager and go to C:users/(your name)/appdata/roaming/opera software/opera stable.
Find the file named Bookmarks. It will have no extension. That’s your old bookmark file
Copy it.
Now open the Default folder. In it you will find another file named Bookmarks. It will be small.
Rename it something like Bookmarks update.
Now paste your old Bookmarks file into the Default folder.
Re-start Opera and your bookmarks should be back.It worked for me.

When I turned on my Windows PC this morning and started Opera, I noticed none of the bookmarks are showing up. I do see the following files with over 200KB in size and they were updated last night.
C:\Users<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Bookmarks
C:\Users<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Bookmarks.bakI am guessing the bookmarks I saved until yesterday are probably present in these files. I tried doing an "Import Bookmarks" operation by adding a .html extension to these files. But, I don't see the bookmarks getting restored. Does anyone know how to restore bookmarks in this situation? Really appreciate your help. I realized I should setup sync of bookmarks after I restore.

Lost everything saved as well, even the settings were reset. Beyond frustrating

Rather than offering a solution, Opera staff just put all the complaints in a single thread to be hidden away. Absolutely appalling

Every single one of my settings, bookmarks, history, everything, it all reset on the most resent update. What the hell happened? How do I fix this? I have a lot of stuff that I needed, all lost now.

Also lost my tabs again from only one workspace, but not after the latest update:
Problem: After a download of a PDF I double clicked in the download notification and it should open - but it didn't for me - but it did on the 2nd monitor but on this I'd running my company laptop on HDMI 2 for days.
Only in rare cases I switch the 2nd monitor to HDMI 1 - my PC 2nd monitor.
Finally the Opera window 2 was open on HDMI 2 which I've never seen. Closed Opera on main window last night. Turned on today. All tabs lost on first workspace - maybe because from that I'd opened the PDF.
I noticed this situation ~ 10 days ago when I lost all tabs in another workspace. In this case I've moved a window to the 2nd monitor, closed the window first, then the main window. But next day I'd lost them also.
There should be a warning when closing the Opera main window (started first) and another Opera window is open so we can cancel and close the other Opera windows first - also on not active 2nd monitor.
However - my little small Opera startup script saved it all and I was able to restore the previous session with all tabs - more or less.
I recommend to use it until Opera has a better solution:
Using Opera since version 6.

Hello, this morning I woke up and I went to use my computer and I realized that all my coockies history, my history and all webs that I had saved were deleted, I was wondering if this was an Opera Windows problem or if I can get a solution for this to not happen again.
If someone can tell me a way to recover my history it would be really helpful, thanks.

After restarting my computer, I opened my browser and found that all tabs, all history, all bookmarks and even extensions had been deleted.
The system is windows 10 pro. Opera version 102.0.4880.78 , updated 4 days ago. Running the previous version doesn't help, logging into my account doesn't help, I didn't manually create synchronization. But at the same time in the folder Opera Stable in the file "bookmarks" all my bookmarks are available. In general, 10 years ago I favored the Opera browser only because it never lost tabs, and I always have from 200 to 1000 of them open, I can still forgive the loss of tabs, but I used to store really important information in my bookmarks, and the fact that you suddenly forgot to save and back up important user data on your own makes me deeply upset.
