@firewolfrl
Thx for the tip. I deleted the default folder, which worked perfectly. -

I had the same issue...I have lost precious and needed information/data regarding my job and my next exams....I had to read forums and tried several "solutions" (The "deleting default folder" didn't workout for me) until I solved. Vaguely and temporarily, since i had to install an old version, and now I'm starting a crusade to find an easy and comprehensively way to disable auto update. How difficult is to provide an option in settings to do it????
I have had some bugs/slight problems with opera lately, just a nuance that hopely gets solved eventually, no problem. But this is not annoying, it is scary. Scary how you can lost all your data involuntarily.

Me too having a second time for gone tabs, when launching Opera. Strangely tabs are gone only in main active workspace, only speeddial tab opened, also there's no history or session saved also. Ctr+Shitf+T opens tabs that were closed yesterday.

Opera updated, and now my whole list of bookmarks are gone. I saved them so I wouldn't have to remember them, ......now I need to remember them in order to save them again.
Is it possible they are stored somewhere else and/or I can get them back from the previous version?
Thanks

Get your stuff together, seriously. I think this is the last chance I'm going to give Opera, the browser I've been using for more than 2 decades. Next time it loses everything again, I'm out for good.
Can we please start paying for the browser in exchange for some quality and the removal of all the pointless annoyances and bugs that 100 brought?
Now it starts again the reinstallation of tens of extensions and reopening of all the tabs...
On the bug itself, it's almost as if it created a new profile, all tabs and extensions are gone. History is there however.

Earlier today while not using opera I received a pop up re. using opera vpn.
I closed it and the browser opened. When it did all of my info. was gone. Tabs, bookmarks and history.
I do not understand the fixes that have been posted. Would it be possible for someone to post step by step instructions?
Thanks. -

Opened opera to a new version of opera one. Lost all my history, bookmarks, tabs and extensions. this is the first time I lost everything. I logged in, didn't get anything back. Same state as installing opera for the first time.

Here is how I got my bookmarks back after the latest update:
Open the file manager and go to C:users/(your name)/appdata/roaming/opera software/opera stable.
Find the file named Bookmarks. It will have no extension. That’s your old bookmark file
Copy it.
Now open the Default folder. In it you will find another file named Bookmarks. It will be small.
Rename it something like Bookmarks update.
Now paste your old Bookmarks file into the Default folder.
Re-start Opera and your bookmarks should be back.It worked for me.

When I turned on my Windows PC this morning and started Opera, I noticed none of the bookmarks are showing up. I do see the following files with over 200KB in size and they were updated last night.
C:\Users<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Bookmarks
C:\Users<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Bookmarks.bakI am guessing the bookmarks I saved until yesterday are probably present in these files. I tried doing an "Import Bookmarks" operation by adding a .html extension to these files. But, I don't see the bookmarks getting restored. Does anyone know how to restore bookmarks in this situation? Really appreciate your help. I realized I should setup sync of bookmarks after I restore.
