Synced wrong bookmarks

I have been getting a new laptop set up today and just tried to import my bookmarks on my old laptop to my new laptop, except for some reason Opera wouldn't export my updated bookmarks. So I tried turning on sync. It synced my bookmarks. But the wrong way. So I have now lost my updated bookmarks as they are now on my old laptop as well as my new. And I don't know how to get my updated bookmarks back. They were nicely arranged and it took me ages to get rid of all the nonsense I didn't need anymore.
