Agreed, I have no interest in football and this should never have been rolled out like this. Fair enough if you want to give the option to add it, but don't tell me it's a feature that's as important for all users as the home or tab button. Have a little resoect for your users.

@leocg said in Football Icon:
@wavegr There is nothing to be fixed. They can or can not accept the request to allow removing the button, that can be just ignored by the way.
Opera is not pre-bundled in my phone
"Just ignored by the way" is fine
I could use a different browser is fine too -

@murph012382 Of course you can use another browser, no one will do anything to stop you.

@leocg
Would have hoped you would be more receptive to what the users may like or dislike
Just get used to it is not very empathetic -

@murph012382 Opera could add an option to hide the icon or, maybe, change its position? Yes, they could.
People need to come here acting like if the end of the world is near or Opera had committed a heinous crime just because they (the people) are not able to deal with such a small change? No, they don't. -

@leocg
Never alluded to either
Just voicing a simple opinion that I found this new feature unessary for everyone and to not give user end options leaves me with an unfavorable opinion of the browser -

@leocg sadly there seems to be no option, which is what people here are suggesting they allow the ability to do

Hi.
Good Idea the football icon to get unwanted links.
Bad idea for users that don't want it.Please, let users to hide the button.

This is an insanely annoying feature and honestly I hate it so much that I've registered on this forum just to voice my resentment.
Ive never been in interested in sports and my low budget , somewhat laggy phone now loads this additional rubbish. Rubbish I'm not remotely interested in.
Unless patched I will have to switch browsers, it's just too annoying for me personally to ignore.
On a side not tho, who on earth thought adding this sort of feature to an app used for mobile devices with limited space was a good idea?
"46% of Britons describe themselves as fans of football, 26% of rugby union and 20% of cricket." -Google.
So 54% of users have no choice but to have this feature despite having no interest in it. It's not optional and takes up valuable space on my navigation bar. I mean this feature is as important as an address bar for what percentage of mobile users?
This "feature" is demented.
Thankyou all
Kind regards,
Tom -

@leocg WTF?
A lot of users are rightfully upset at having that stupid football suddenly forced on them, without any means to remove it. Yet you say nothing's wrong, and it can just be ignored
You are just plain wrong. About 10% of the time, when I'm trying to access the settings, I end up clicking that stupid football, which then actively prevents me from doing what I actually need to do, until that damn scores page loads, and then I have to cancel it, and wait for the home screen to loads again.
I get that you're just a volunteer mod here, and don't actually work for Opera, but you have been placed in a position of trust. So please have a bit more respect for the genuine concerns of the users posting here. Your arrogant and dismissive attitude reflects badly on Opera, and those that have placed their trust in you, when they made you a moderator here.
