Crash and missing Quicktime on Yosemite with Opera 24 and Opera Developer

When visiting the iTunes trailer page I get a blocked content warning. When I click either to unblock the content or close the warning Opera crashes. After a couple of tries and crashes the page will load. When I click to view a movie, I get the message that Quicktime is not installed and needs to be downloaded. I tested the page in the latest version of Chrome just for fun and while I still get the blocked content warning, I can view the quicktime movie. I just updated to Yosemite so I'm not sure if that is the issue as I hadn't visited the page in Opera before.

The blocked content might be country dependent. The crash is a Flash Plugin issue.

You need the latest BETA Flash Plugin (should be version 15.0.0.215). The released one is no good (for now).

The BETA plugin (don't worry, it's rock solid, better than the final one) can be found here: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer.html

Make sure you select the installer for Opera.

I'm hoping there is a fix for this since Opera is my browser of choice and I really don't want to switch browsers to view content that is only available as a mp4.

Well, all of them, aside from Safari, need you to grant Quicktime access to run inside the browser. Opera seems to be missing this feature. You can't grant access to Quicktime in order to play those videos. So, though this is an issue, it's not a bug, but a missing feature.

What about the crashes? Still there? Or were they fixed by updating the Flash Plugin?

A little more info:

In Opera 25 (stable) there is no crashing and all of my plugins are available (Quicktime included). In Opera Beta (26) and Opera Developer (27), only a basic list of plugins are loaded: Chrome PDF Viewer, eMusic Plugin, Default Browser Helper, Java, Adobe Flash Player and SharePoint. In Opera 25, all these plugins are loaded plus Quicktime, Shockwave, Google Earth, Picasa, Unity Player and Silverlight.

So, my question is why are all the plugins I have installed loading in Opera 25, but not in the beta or developer versions? Obviously I would prefer to use the developer version because of Opera Link and the ability to import bookmarks.

Correct, that is what you're seeing. Opera 26 and higher are 64-bit and can only use 64-bit plugins, while Opera 25 is 32-bit. For now this means:

In Opera 25 you can use Quicktime, in Opera 26 you can't (it's 32-bit only)
On the other hand, In Opera 26 you can use recent Java plugins, in Opera 25 you can't (it's 64-bit only)
Opera is investing resources in improving HTML5/H264 video playback to make sure that you can still play as many videos as possible without Quicktime
Google is actively migrating their own plugins (Google Talk etc.) to 64-bit PPAPI plug-ins to make sure they keep working (in both Chrome and Opera)

We have a software application for e-learning and unfortunately on our windows 10 64bit OS machine, Opera is one of the browsers that the media player (Quick Time Player) being used on the application does not seem to stream.

It works in Google Chrome but since we prefer to use Opera it would be nice to have it working in Opera. The message we get is "Quick Time Player is out of date".

We have tried following Apples directives for using QuickTime and installed all available updates from them but still OPERA does not play the media. When you right click you get the standard " "Quick Time" and "Inspect Element CTRL+SHIFT+C" pop up message but that is about it as no option to update or similar.

If someone could help explain what we need to do to get Quick Time Player working on OPERA that would be extremely appreciated and helpful. This problem occurs on both 32 and 64 bit OPERA we took off the 64 bit as the 32bit OPERA seems to overall work better on our windows machine.

Anyway, if someone could help point us in the right direction on this Quick Time Player issue that would be nice.
