Flow without phone

There has been a post about using flow without connecting to a phone (Jan 2022). It has worked in the past. Works on old PC here, but will not work on the new one even when I copied Opera Stable to new machine. Industry issue. When something has worked and then it no longer does, how is this progress? Tried to connect and the QR code is scanned and then nothing happens on either device. I've adjusted to not being able to use functions on software in the past, but it gets old. Don't get me started on ribbons and Acrobat.
I digress. Is there a solution to this issue, or do I pick another battle?
