Syncing bookmarks may delete them if they already exists?

If I sync my bookmarks onto a device that already has bookmarks will I lose all my bookmarks on that device?

You're not supposed to at least. Existing bookmarks should remain on each device. However, Sync can be buggy sometimes, so make sure you have backups just in case.
