Aging tablet will not connect to Opera account

I have an aging Samsung Android Tablet running Android 6.0.1 with Opera Version 69.2.3606.65175. I can log onto my Opera account on my phone and my Windows 10 PC. However I cannot log onto my Opera account on my Samsung tablet. The circle just keeps going around for a long time (minutes) and never logs on. I tried going to synch.opera.com, which appears to log me on but then when I try to Synch, it asks me to log on.

I have tried to use Connect to device however the QR code process always fails. I need to back up my bookmarks on the Samsung tablet before it dies. Any help would be appreciated.
