iOS12 opera screen goes black and then seems to crash

Opera seems to crash but is still open when I select the home button. Is this simply because my iPad is too old, I can’t run anything beyond iOS12

@rob-b sods law, no sooner had I posted this then it worked fine. Cleared my history first, so whether there was script running on a page that caused problems I don't know!

@rob-b No, spoke too soon. what seems to happen is if I can touch a page that is open it works for a while, or can get to the start page, but if I type in the address bar it crashes

When I select the home button, Opera crashes but remains open. Because I'm running iOS 12 on an old iPad, I can't run anything beyond that
