Every time I try to load an article from PRweb, Opera crashes. And I'm not the only one. A friend of mine is having the exact same issue. I've sent crash reports. Anyone else want to try and confirm?

No crash via Opera 12.14 32bit on Linux.

You said any article, so why did you choose that particular one ?. A little bit inappropriate i think.

Crashed here, Opera 12.16 XP SP3.
The page loads and then Opera just shuts down.
Submitted a crash report, but I suspect that Opera aren't paying any attention to reports from Presto based Opera versions now.
It just came back "There is no detailed information available for this crash" which is what they always say now.
                😞
                Fine in Opera 20 BTW!
                🙂

Crash with Opera 12.16 64bit on Linux confirmed.

But as DaveHawley wrote, I doubt anyone cares.

Broken in 12.16... But works in 12.14!

That's another proof that 12.16 (which were released after the Presto's engine team dismissal) was defective release.

                    An another examples:
http://www.chapters.indigo.ca (12.16 - cookies support broken; works fine in 12.14).
                    http://www.twitch.tv/directory/all (12.16/x64 - it can't display content; works in 12.14).
Both sites are unusable in 12.16, but works fairly well in 12.14

12.16 is worse than 12.14 Reason: broken site compatibility.

The website in your first example complains about cookies, Twitch is showing me content, though. I disabled browser.js some time ago as it caused more problems than helped with site compatibility. If this is intentional or not, I can't tell.

But works in 12.14. This one site is not the only example of the site with broken cookies in 12.16. AFAIR, some user had reported about the similar problem with an another URL.

                        Try 12.16 x64.
Oh. So Browser.js is more likely is issue?

Disabling browser.js makes no difference here, still crashes.
                          😞
Can anyone say whether the problem still happens in 12.15?
IIRC the update from 12.15 to 12.16 was only to fix a certificate problem, and no other changes were recorded, so it should theoretically crash in 12.15 as well.
Are there any reasons not to roll back to 12.14 from 12.16 or 12.15?
                          🙂

Nope. In fact, a lot of people stay with 12.14 or below as you cannot change the default search engine to your liking anymore in 12.15 and 12.16.

                              Thanks.
Haven't had any reason to roll back yet, although if I find that more sites are crashing or not working correctly in 12.16 I'll certainly try rolling back!

Here is an another broken site in 12.16:
http://www.asos.com/women/ (click "Help" under the "Questions" in bottom of page). Unattended redirect to the index page.
Works fairly well in 12.14 (no redirect).

Dear Opera Software, what's wrong with you? Where is your quality control?
Or you probably want to alienate remaining Opera's 12.x user base in every way...

Are there any significant security fixes between 12.14 and 12.16? I've been using 12.16 for ages now but annoyingly it crashes all the time. If rolling back would help, I think I will do so. If 12.x didn't crash so much and wasn't so slow at JavaScript compared to modern JS engines found in other browsers, I'd be content for some time to come.

Upgrading to a modern branch is not feasible for me. The new branches are still not usable from my perspective as I consider tab bar placement to be a critical requirement in my daily browser and will not switch until its return.

Version 12.15 is also affected (just like 12.16).

There is no critical security fixes between 12.14 and 12.16 (there is NO buffer-overflow vulnerabilities etc.).

I believe that a web-sites compatibility that has worsened and poor stability of the 12.15/12.16+ is more critical flaws.

I don't know about changes "under the hood", but main change from .14 to .15 was a non-issue, that is the default search engine may be changed ("hi-jacked") by other software, and the main change from .15 to .16 was about some certificates being "hi-jacked" and therefor should be invalid.

                                        Works pretty well in 12.14

flashscore.com seems to be working OK here with 12.16.
Certainly no crashes and seems to display OK too.
