Workspaces Icon Doesn't Display

Hello,
I am reporting a possible bug.
I have used all available Workspaces customizing them with my preferred icons but the last Workspace's icon doesn't show up on the Sidebar while displaying properly in the Sidebar Setup.
I have changed it many times to no avail.
I am on a Windows 10 Pro x64.
Thank you.

The flower one is the one that's not showing? What's the URL to the flower pic so the format can be checked?

@burnout426 yes that's the one but it doesn't matter which one I pick cause none shows.
I don't understand what it means "the URL to the flower pic": it's one of the icons available in Opera.

Okay.

Okay. Never mind. When clicking to add another icon that's not there by default, I saw some results that looked like remote images and didn't see the flower icon. I found it.

All 6 workspace icons show fine for me, including custom ones like you have.
Goto the URL
opera://about
, take note of the profile path, and close Opera.Open the "Preferences" file in the profile folder with JSONedit in tree mode.
Scroll down to the bottom and expand "UI". Then, expand "Workspaces". Then, right-click on "config" and choose to expand all.
Can you show a screenshot of what you have for the entire "config" section?

@burnout426 well I used all 25 available and the problem happened only on the 25th both with default or any of the extra ones.
All right I will try to post what you requested as soon as I finish working with the browser.
Thank you for now.

@threshold Never mind on the screen shot of those settings. I can reproduce the problem now where I get the vertical line for the last one.

In my case, what I see with JSONedit is that the 25th workspace has the icon name of
add-custom-icon
, which is the emoji with the "+" on it to add a custom icon. Even though there's a custom emoji set for the workspace, because of the icon name ofadd-custom-icon
, you get the vertical line or a blank space. So, to work around the issue, in JSONedit, while Opera is closed, all you have to do is change
add-custom-icon
for the workspace to something likegaming-icon
. Then, your custom emoji override will work and show up.In other words, each workspace has an initial/default icon name with a possible emoji override for the icon. But, there are only 24 default icons. So, when you create the 25 icon, it gets the default of
add-custom-icon
. That should be fine of course. But, the emoji override doesn't work foradd-custom-icon
for some reason.I'll file the bug for this later.

@burnout426 ahah thank you very much cause I was making a mess trying to do what you asked me.
All right so the problem is with Opera and I will wait a possible fix cause I don't want to mess the setup files.
Thank you for the help.

There's a temporary workaround for this in this Opera Developer build so far. You can make a test standalone installation of it to a folder on your desktop if you want to test it. But, the workaround is just to limit the number workspaces to 24 to avoid the bug while a proper fix is being worked on. Will keep you updated.

@burnout426 thank you for keeping me posted.
I actually managed to use the previous workaround manually editing the setup file and writing "sunflower" and it worked! When the proper fix will be deployed will it overwrite my fix or what will happen?
Thank you

I don't know yet, but I would guess it would leave "sunflower" in the preferences file and work fine, even though the 25th workspace created fresh in a build with the fix will probably say "add-custom-icon". If that ends up being the case, you could always fix it manually just so it's technically right. Or, you could delete the workspace and recreate it.
In short, I predict that it won't be a problem, but I don't know.
