Opera Mail - Import 12.17 mail database

I installed Opera mail on my laptop and it imported the 12.17 mail database, labels and all.
So I was happy and installed Opera mail on my main computer.
Sadly, the import process did not go so well and I can't get it to recognise the 12.17 database. That is, when I click the top, import from Opera browser option, I get no mails or labels.
I've looked at the registry and can't see any spurious paths that might be confusing it.
Any ideas/help.
Thanks in advance.

Make sure Opera 12.17 is installed to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera" (or "C:\Program Files\Opera" if on 32-bit windows) and make sure it's set as the default web browser. It it's installed to that spot, you can download the installer from ftp.opera.com, launch it, click "options", make sure the "install path" is set to the "Opera" program files folder, check "use Opera as my default browser" and click "upgrade". That'll fix the registry.
Then Opera Mail will show the new import option (will be above the "import from Opera") when you first run Opera Mail. But, since you already ran Opera Mail and imported, you'll have to close it and delete its "mail" folder in "C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Opera Mail\Opera Mail" to get Opera to want to import again.
However, importing isn't necessary. Just delete "C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Opera Mail\Opera Mail" and "C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Opera Mail\Opera Mail". Then, copy "C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera" into "C:\Ussers\user\AppData\Roaming\Opera Mail" and rename that "Opera" folder to "Opera Mail". Then, copy "C:\Users\user\AppData\local\Opera\Opera" into "C:\Users\user\AppData\local\Opera Mail" and rename that 'Opera" folder to "Opera Mail".
Then, when you start Opera Mail, everything will be there like it was in Opera 12.17. Note though that for good measure, after you copy the roaming Opera profile folder over to the Opera Mail profile folder, you should edit operaprefs.ini in it and remove any lines that contain paths so that Opera Mail uses the default paths for everything and not some specific paths that were set for Opera 12.17.
That's all the new import wizard does is copy the folders over like that.

I have tried that, and unfortunately do not get the hoped result.
My install directory is not the same as your example, but I modified as required to do the manual copy. When I run Opera Mail after manually copying the files, I get the import window, it doesn't just start up in the inbox.
After import, I get an inbox with 5 e-mails and no labels. My install paths are shown below:
