mic and cam blocked on google meet

i recently downloaded opera on my mac after upgrading it to big sur, and now i can't allow access to my mic and camera no matter how i try. i click allow when the pop-up appears, but i still get a prompt telling me that "Google Chrome might not have access to you microphone/camera". Does anyone have a solution to this?
