Unable to force Opera to close on shutdown.

I'm very busy. As most of us do, I multitask. Frequently I need to leave my office and I shut down my Mac. Almost as frequently I return and find that my Mac was unable to shut down because Opera would not close. I tried to create an automated script with the automator, but it was able to close everything except Opera. Before some troll tells me 'You should just go and find the open Opera window and close it before you shut down", I'll say simply that does not address my problem. How can I set Opera to shut down when the OS sends a shutdown signal instead of hanging? Note: This is the only app which displays this behavior, which is a bit troubling.
