Oh, I am sorry to hear about that!
Do you get a crashlog/dialog from the system? Could you copy over what it says?
If you are okay with loosing your Speed Dials, settings, and history you can try to reset Opera by following the instructions to remove user-data. Last resort, though. Maybe your crashlog will help us figure out whats broken so we can fix or work-around your issue.

I have the same problem on mac os x 10.9.4
After the update to Opera v24.0 it won't open, and a pop up dialog box shows this message (it's in spanish, sorry about that):
"No se puede abrir el directorio del perfil de usuario porque careces de privilegios suficientes. Deberías llamar al administrador de esta máquina."
Wich translates vaguely to "Cannot open user data directory because you dont have enough privileges. You should call the system admin."
I'm already logged in as administrator so I'm confused.
So yes, it obviously has to do with user data. Is there any way to keep the data and make Opera work?Thx!

Can you go to opera:about page and take a note of Profile path directory. Is it in a directory owned by your user?

@yohf9027 please post your question in the Windows forum, although the error message might be the same it can't really be the same issue, and the steps to solve the issue would be different on Windows and on Mac.
In the Windows forums people might be able to help you better than here on the Mac forums.
