cannot install Opera on new laptop

I cannot install Opera Browser on my new laptop. Whenever I try to run "OperaSetup.exe", I get the following error message:

"OperaSetup.exe - Application Error: The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application."

I tried downloading "OperaSetup.exe" several times from different browsers. Both Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox installed without any issues.

I am using 64-bit Microsoft Windows 10 Home on the HP Spectre x360 15-eb1097nr with the Intel Core i7-1165G7 CPU and Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics. Bitdefender Total Security is enabled on both my desktop PC and the new laptop PC, but I don't have any problems with Opera on the desktop PC (also running 64-bit Microsoft Windows 10, but with an AMD CPU and AMD GPU). The only other difference between the two computers is that the laptop has BitLocker enabled for the Windows C drive and the desktop does not.

Is there a way to download the full installer instead of just the web installer? Not sure if that would help.

Here is a link to the full installer for the Opera browser. I found this on the Opera forums page. Because you are using the link from me, the download might not start automatically. Just click Try Again in the small print to download it manually.

Yes, downloading the offline package worked. Not sure why I couldn't find the offline installer before.

I cannot get this or the regular download to install on windows 7 pro 32 bit. Please help. Thank you.

@johnlhillhouse Do you get the same error as the OP? Did you make sure to download the installer for the 32-bit version of Opera? Did you try the offline installer?

thank you for the reply. did not get error message just will not install. tried off line------- same thing? avast and firewall turned off. please continue to help.
