Unable to complete login on New York Times website

Unable to complete log in on New York Times website. This is a new Opera glitch in the last week or two (late Jan or early Feb 2021), I get the home page and headlines, put in my ID and password. There is a black bar at the bottom "Log in"-- nothing happens when I try to click. I used this for years. If I use another browser, it works.
On Forward.com my click on the log-in screen via Opera leads to a totally black screen -- again a new glitch.
Most other websites continue to work.
I am also having difficulty attaching files (last few weeks) in Opera.
