I really like the Opera GX browser and am using it instead of chrome. I really like some of the features especially picture in picture But I have a few issues too But my main issue is that it doesn't save your info. What I mean is that in chrome if you are using a different laptop/computer you can log into your profile and have your data history Everything but in Opera GX you can't! Ok, I get it Opera GX has profiles now but still it's not the same profiles like in chrome so yeah. My laptop broke so I got another one but now I have to set everything back up. I used to have a lot of speed dials but now everything is messed up. Please fix this problem opera! I hope you respond.

-Block cookie dialogue doesn’t work (none of the sites care about this feature in Opera example gismodo.com just to name one)
-private browser does nothing. cookie dialogues pop up, pop ups pop up, videos auto play, extra content like ads showing in frames. It is a mess seriously.
-since the dawn of time opera got complete unconcern about auto play videos, playing advertisements. Not just the fact that you cannot save your data bandwidth due to these videos start to play and eat up your monthly data cap but the video start to play even when the page “area” not even in focus. And many more issues that I’m very tired to even think about let alone work for you for free to list it here -I’ve done it many times in the past, sent feedback, wrote to support it is clear that you don’t care.
This is related to all your browsers not just GX. You seriously stuck in the 2015s where browsers begun their evolution. -

There are only 2 things that i wish were different. I often need to drag a tab to my other monitor when doing work. when i am finished and want to drag the tab back, it leaves a window on the other monitor, and just removes the tab. Its a small thing but very slightly annoying. The other thing is when creating an account for something, Google Chrome gives the option to recommend a safe password when you right click on the password box. In OperaGX it does not. just something i like from chrome that i wish this had

Overall GX is fastest browser i have . But it have 2 big problems(for me ofc)
Every time opera updates (1-2 times per Week ) it- Show me starting gif with F**** Sound !
- Enable Sidebar.
If that will happen once a month - Maybe that would not be such a problem but disable this annoying things 2-3 times per week eventually will make me change browser forever.

Hello, there are some themes on the chrome web store that i really like, i wish there was a compatibility between opera gx and chrome themes.
Also on macOS sometimes when opening a file browser to open/save files, the entire window becomes grey and doesnt respond any more. Also sometimes it just crashes.

I have been using OperaGX for around 2 years now, I have never experienced any general problems or problmes with limiting the ram, unlike other browsers they eat the ram really hard I am enjoying the personal use, learning use, and gaming use.
the only thing I am not satisfied with and I am not enjoying at all is:
-the studying use...
Microsoft edge is ways better when it comes to studying, reading, and arranging the opened websites.
in operaGX we don't have "group your opened websites" aka (Vertical tabs feature) and sometimes I reach up to 30 opened website while they are not grouped, and they look painful to my experience.the other thing I hate is that when I open a PDF file.
whenever I open a PDF file I can't use the same features as I can use on Microsoft edge, marking read out loud, draw, type on the document etc...
the general look of "google drive" is awful as well, that is the main only thing why I use 2 browsers instead of only operaGX.summery: we need a new experience for students close to what it is in Microsoft edge or even better!!!

Add an option to disable typing sounds, as it can be distracting and I can't see an existing option anywhere.
Some websites autoplay videos and the video is forced into the corner of my screen with no option to get rid of it, even after the video has finished.
Opera GX doesn't remember the icons of bookmarks when you transfer them over. Unless I'm remembering wrongly, Firefox does it.
You can get rid of the sidebar, but I wish there was an option for it to act like a taskbar. Hover over the left side of the screen and allow it to pop out and become visible, just like the Windows taskbar does.
Youtube Music has a couple of bugs. If you try to full-screen a music video, the entire browser turns to fullscreen mode despite only the sidebar being affected. As well as that, if you minimise the video player, it glitches in and out of the thumbnails behind it.

I recently switched from Chrome to Opera, and I'm enjoying it. I ran into a slight issue earlier, though, and I thought I'd share it. I installed the AdBlock Plus extension for Opera (in addition to the built-in one) and for a while it was working fine. I watch youtube a lot so being able to block ads on that is important to me. At some point randomly, the ads stopped being fully blocked before videos, and, while the ad couldn't play, I'd still have to wait the full duration. I tried disabling AdBlock Plus and keeping the built in one on, but that caused the ad to just fully play normally. After a while, I did the same thing but restarted my browser after I made the change, and now the built-in one works perfectly by itself. It seems like the presence of the independent extension caused the built-in adblock to start doing nothing.
TL;DR: AdBlock Plus extension didn't fully work on YT and caused the built-in adblocker to stop functioning.

This is a really great version of Opera. Please provide Opera GX as a linux debian .deb as well!

It fixes a lot of issues, so I think it should probably not only be marketed to gamers but also creatives who rely on quick response from their system.
Thanks for a good browser.

Hi. For a number of years I've been looking for a new default browser as all the other seem rather processor hungry. I installed Opera GX a few weeks ago and have used it occasionally whilst still using chrome and firefox ( one for work one for non-work). I decided to fully commit to it today but ran into rather a massive dealbreaker for me. So I was wondering if there is any possible way around this or do I have to delete it and keep looking. The dealbreaker for me is not being able to open a new tab at my desired homepage. I've spent the last couple of hours or so googling for solutions only to finally find one that says that Opera don't want this to be possible and want to force you to use the rather unfriendly speed dial. Is this true or is there some way I can make this otherwise excellent browser do what I want of it?

I haven't had any issues before now after using OperaGX for about a month, but now suddenly there's unchangeable keyboard shortcuts for different engines which I don't want to use, never have used, and won't use. Why can't I just set my default engine and have it work correctly? Why can't I disable or change the shortcuts? This is unbelievably anti-consumer. The benefits of GX really aren't much over chrome for my uses and this alone is making me think of switching back. Although the gains are small I really do prefer Opera over Chrome, and I've seen people complaining about this all the way back in 2021. How is this not fixed???

Feedback: Could you add a feature that lets you block websites on workspaces just to help myself focus a little more.

I've been using the Opera GX browser for a few weeks and managed to convince some friends to do the same. I'm enjoying the software and had some feedback for fixes and improvements I would like to share. In no way do I expect a reply but I would like to offer my thoughts and opinions as I’d like to see this software developed for years to come.
Bug Fixes
-
Upon the installation setup walkthrough of Opera GX when clicking “block trackers” it restarts the setup process.
-
“Hardware acceleration” actually made my browser slower with it being turned on.
-
Speed Dial is extremely slow on start-up and takes a long time to show your bookmarks.
(I did some research on forums and it seems other people are having this issue too. Also the two friends I had install opera had the same problem)
- GX corner is also quite slow Especially with a animated wallpaper making it near unusable
(a note - my pc is very upgraded for composting workflows so performance is no issue here)
Improvements/Suggestions
I understand the target audience is “gamers” for this software. Gamers are the worst critics more so than in film, and community and development teams listening to them is of huge importance to them.
One thing I know “gamers” like is customization. Have a more customizable array of settings, a big selling point of opera is the customization so why stop here? Add more features like..
- Ability to have sidebar on the right hand side
(I understand this may be a bit tricky with the minimize and exit buttons on the top right but I believe it can be done)
- Ability to change individual sidebar icons/colours
- Ability to move sidebar icons in different places.
- Sidebar application overlay.
(You can pin the sidebar which is nice, however it moves your window as well. Having another button next to it like a circle to represent “overlay” will keep it overlaying your tabs instead of closing when clicking again.)
- Collaborative pin boards.
( I believe this would be a great idea having multiple people share a pin board instead of just reacting but rather see realtime when someone updates. Maybe even a chat bar down the bottom? I believe this could compete with the likes of google docs/workspaces)
- Workspaces that have independent bookmarks / themes or backgrounds
(This would be really handy. How I currently have it setup is I have a workspace for “personal use” and one for “Work”. Having bookmarks associated with the speed dial in my personal like “Facebook” , “Reddit” and in my work workspace replacing that with emails and cg stuff would be absolutely fantastic.)
- Ability to export your opera setup and share it as a template with someone.
- Upload a custom bookmark image.
(I really like how the bookmarks were done! Great job! The fact you can zoom around and snap it as a thumbnail is great. However some sites just aren't that versatile or aesthetically pleasing. Having the ability to upload custom thumbnails would be really useful for organized people.)
- Add Steam overlay to the sidebar
(As stated previously I understand the target audience is gamers. So it makes sense to have a steam overlay.)
- Widgets in speed dial screen
( having features like a clock, calendar, notes etc would be a great bonus!)
- I think a really good selling feature to add would be the ability to almost have a mini profile or something similar for your opera sync. Here you can link your Twitch, Steam , Epic Games account etc and have followers like your friends for example. Maybe it can grab data from steam to show off your in game achievements. Maybe this could be all connected in the GX corner?
- Opera Sync really needs to come to IOS devices. I have an iPad and iPhone and would use it there if I could access my bookmarks.
Thank you for reading,
-

Absolutely! It always gets on my nerves when dragging the last tab from a window to an other, and the old isn't being closed.
I mean, the browser itself is really great. Especially if you use features like the plugins (Telegram, Spotify, ..).
The problem facing the hardware acceleration is still up to date with me.
I'm missing the functionality to create a random safe password, too. -

Hi the names Psyche,
Been using OperaGX since last year. Recently like 3 days ago i start to notice that i am having trouble opening a tab, it keeps closing like automatically once i open a new tab with the plus icon or the simple ctrl + t it automatically closes. Though i found a way to open new tabs without it getting closed by opening the GX corner i can open a tab without it getting closed. (and also just now just found out that it happens when currently im on the tab of facebook like anything facebook connected to the site, but once i switch tab like youtube i can then again open new tab without it getting closed.)

ability to move the Notification popup location instead of the Windows Default bottom right
I see Firefox had theirs on the bottom left
