Import Bookmarks to Opera does not work....

Why doesn't the import bookmarks function work in Opera? I downloaded version #72.0.3815.321 for a Dell desktop running Windows 10. I've tried importing my bookmarks via an html file and then directly from other browsers. It doesn't work. The page doesn't move; It just remains blank. I would be very grateful for any help.
