Opera works very slowly, pages take a long time to load, I don't even know how YouTube works, and Facebook is the same. I clean the entire browser every day and I still have 3.5GB of browser files...

@nizar-arena Task manager doesn't know how many opened tabs you have, it just show the number of running processes, what includes more than just opened tabs.

Hi guys, my youtube was being slow and unresponsive and I noticed that it was blocking the ads even though I didn't have adblocker on.

I then noticed Opera GX has a setting to block the ads - I disabled this and instantly noticed a massive difference - back to normal

I recently got the hunstman mini from razer and it has a color setting bound to opera or whatever, but when i turned off the reactive lighting to apps it suddenly started runing smooth. I dont know if it actually has something to do with it but might help some of you if it does

You know, maybe it's the mods that you apply on Opera, but its super laggy and I've tried everything

Plus I can't seem to join Roblox, even the website. And I checked with my friends, Roblox hasn't been down for a while. So it has to be Opera. Even turning off VPN and adblocker on youtube won't help...

My Opera GX browser on Windows 11 becomes extremely slow when loading pages, especially after performing a new search on the same domain (example: searching on Google or Amazon after entering those pages a few minutes before), like if it refuses to do a new search, and sometimes even not load ever.

That doesn't happen with other browsers.

I recently noticed my Opera GX being slow as hell. It started happening a week ago, I thought it was my wifi or something, but it might be the new update. But again I haven't received an update before this started happening. So I don't know what to do at this moment.

@alhaan313 Try clearing the cache from your settings i had the same problem just like 2-3 mins ago and as soon as i cleared my cache it started running smoothly. (try if it works it worked for me tho)

Yeah, I have been having the same issue, ever since the new update. I have done the normal troubleshooting. I am certain it is not something we can fix it is something they broke in the update that needs to be fixed.

as of 4/9/2025 opra gx is still slow no matter what u do and now for no reason at all if i try to get on twitch is saids that is does not support this browser and i look up what they support and they do support this browser please fix this im about to got back to edge.

Yup, I just joined the "Opera GX is slow" group.

Recent updates, Opera now takes too long to start, there's a heavy delay when opening graphics heavy pages, experiencing sluggish playback of Youtube videos 1440p and up.

What I tried:
Disable all extensions Shouldn't need to...
Disable the ad-blocker Shouldn't have to...
Disable Speed Dial Shouldn't ask to...
Reset settings to default Recommended action by Moderators... Doesn't always work...
Reset flags to default Undo all customizations...
Create a clean profile folder/directory Pretty much a reset/refresh...
Adjust system settings Shouldn't need to just for a browser to work...
Uninstall Reinstall with Revo Clean install... No change of behavior...
Custom GPU profile created for Opera GX via NVIDIA Control Panel Dedicating GPU resources doesn't change a thing with Opera GX's sluggish performance...
Given up Pretty much getting there!

Since the last 3 updates Opera's been fucked to use, forces itself to update whether or not you disable the damn thing so it's a complete waste of time and effort customizing the browser to your personal taste when the update goes and resets it all.

Installed other browsers to do a speed and stability comparison test and where Opera GX was once ahead of the rest, it now fails miserably.

Fast = Slow = Could Do Better =

Browser loading speed test:
Opera GX - Mozilla Firefox - Edge - Vivaldi - Chrome
There's now a 5-8sec delay when loading up Opera GX's home page (set to google search with no speed dial tiles loaded).

Ad-blocker test:
Opera GX - Mozilla Firefox - Edge - Vivaldi - Chrome
Upon every new update there are random intrusive adverts popping up on my start page where there once wasn't any.

UI customization:
Opera GX - Mozilla Firefox - Edge - Vivaldi - Chrome
Opera has discarded all custom settings from earlier builds now limiting users to lackluster and restrictive UI templates.

Youtube playback:
Opera GX - Mozilla Firefox - Edge - Vivaldi - Chrome
Enhancement now does more harm than good for both video and image media, creating over sharpening that makes videos playback sluggishly and adds a ridiculous overlay of fuzziness to images.

Extensions behavior after browser updates:
Opera GX - Mozilla Firefox - Edge - Vivaldi - Chrome
There are conflicts with browser extensions that will simply no longer work after updating.

Resource hog after latest browser updates:
Opera GX - Mozilla Firefox - Edge - Vivaldi - Chrome
Opera has become a resource hog, simply by starting the browser, my system resources hit the roof for a brief amount of time.

I clean installed an older version of Opera GX which worked flawlessly, never experienced or had issues of any of the mentioned above, it just worked, however, it all went back to shit once it updated.

I've more or less accumulated most of the issues users are having in one post.
