Opera will not open on my Windows 10 PC

Opera will not open on my Windows 10 PC.

Opera has never worked on this pc. Downloaded it fresh from the Opera website, and all it does when I try and open it from my task bar (or wherever) is just flicker a cmd prompt window once on the screen and that's it. Even after reinstalling it multiple times and redownloading the exe from the Opera website, nothing has worked.

Please let me know how I can fix this, as I really need to use Opera on this PC...

Do a test. Temporarily create a new user account on Windows and try Opera there. Does it work there at least?

@burnout426 Works fine on this separate account, but it needs to work on my main account (obviously).... not sure what to do. Any advice?

Not sure yet what the problem is with some user accounts.

In your normal Windows user account, open up a command prompt and run this command:

"%LocalAppData%\Programs\Opera\launcher.exe" --enable-logging --v=1

(Or, adjust the path to your Opera's launcher.exe)

Then, run:

notepad "%AppData%\Opera Software\Opera Stable\opera.log"

to see if you see any errors.

No errors in the NotePad.

@imatthew05 Try installing the portable version. To the root directory of the system drive (in a separate folder).
Try running both launcher.exe and opera.exe. You can also have administrator rights.

Please create the environment variable and value OPERA_CRASH_EMAIL=your@mail.com so that when Opera crashes, Opera developers can look at the problem.

Do you have the Windows taskbar set to auto-hide and do you have some program that modifies the Windows taskbar?
