Bookmarks for certain sites to the right of the URL bar

My URL bar occupies several inches of horizontal space, the vast majority of it empty. Are there extensions (or is there any way) that allow one to put individual bookmarks on this horizontal URL bar? I have icons for several extensions just to the right of the URL field; I would love to put links to websites there as well.

Nope. Not that I know of. You can only display them in the Personal Bookmarks Bar, and if you don't like the way they are displayed there, you can use a Bookmarks Manager Extension. There are some good ones. I chose not even to bother showing the Personal Bookmarks Bar, because the display in the Bookmarks Manager Extension -- I use Chrookmarks for Chrome -- is sufficient.

I'm aware of one such extension - Opera 11;)
I mean it's customisable to the extreme;)
