@clauber said in Workspaces as separate sessions:

I just created my account to support this. We need profiles/workspaces with different sessions/cookies/storage.
This is kinda becoming a deal breaker to me.

I'd consider moving to Opera if they had support for this. Containers is absolutely required workflow once you start using it there is no moving back.

Just created an account to support this.

I don't care what the feature/function is called - I just want a simple list that I can add a *.domain space to.
Having a domain on this list should result in every new session to this domain space being created in an isolate process that cannot bridge information from other sessions' open or cached data.

The private window option is insufficient as its far too easy to invertedly open sites you want isolated within an existing shared session.

@hm55 Vivaldi premiered an enhanced session feature. That also involves open spaces, so no need to keep changing profiles, either.

@hm55 Workspaces are just a visual separation of tabs on the tab bar. That's it. Opera hasn't said, but I personally doubt workspaces will ever evolve to use separate sessions.

It turns out Workspaces is no use to me as I want a different set of Home page favs.

@burnout426 Arc Browser has it. Not differents sessions but profiles. In addition to the ability to customize each workspace and create folders and tabs.

See this post for how to do that with Opera.

This is the main reason I cannot use Opera as my primary browser... I just cannot mix company information, history and cookies with my personal profile.

Every mayor browsers have this feature and Opera is the only one without this feature... MacOS and Linux versions doesn't have an option to switch profiles.

@burnout426 Thank you for your answer. Very complicated the use of profiles indicated. In Arc you can set as many profiles as you want in settings. Then, the workspaces, associate them with one of them. And select if you need the same applications that are built into the default profile or add new ones. You can also individualize each one, with its respective color and background page. Also, when I open a second window in Opera, the workspaces do not appear in this one. And if by mistake, I don't realize it and I close first the window with the boards, and then the second window, the next time I open Opera, there are no more workspaces. And I must proceed to restore them in the Default folder. In all the other browsers I tried, the workspaces are synchronized centrally and never disappear. Regards.

@prazgreen Islands are a marketing way of selling lash grouping, albeit in a very cute and visual way. Vivaldi has three different ways of grouping its tabs. Similar to Opera's island shape, would be the "accordion" shape in Vivaldi.

@burnout426 this should be ok if no other Chromium browser did it but why others can but Opera not?

For example Arc workspace can have different profiles.

@AmericanEagle recently only Arc has it.
All the browser you listed doesn't have it even today.

This is still the big miss in Opera even after years.
I keep trying to move to another browser due that... if Arc was not so bad in Windows I should have be using it but Opera UI is still king for me.

Just miss Workspace with different profiles/session... there is no point in using Workspace without that.

@edmarcio You can have it in Opera too, but you need to create them manually.

In Opera GX you can create profiles.
