I don't see your point. How would it be better? Anything older than a day already has the date on it. It's only "today" and "yesterday" that don't have the date and I think that's absolutely unambiguous and convenient to have it say "today" or "yesterday". I don't want to see a date and have to figure out myself if that was yesterday.
The only thing I would prefer is having the day of the week added to the dates (anything older than a day). -
