Videos and gifs not playing on specific websites

@blankoambit Can't test the vlive site myself. It either loads nothing or closes after a few seconds or redirects to some spam site (I'm in the U.S.).
For Twitter, videos and GIFs are playing fine for me in Opera (same version as you). I'm on Windows 10 though. Link to specific post that does it? Some videos can differ in their format and might only be able to reproduce an issue with some and not others.
After trying to play a video, goto the URL
opera://media-internals
and expand the section for the player in question. Then, look through the info to see what errors occurred. -

Okay. I tried https://www.vlive.tv/video/154917 and it played fine in Opera. Tried 1080p, 720p and 480p qualities.

Does the video at https://bitmovin.com/demos/drm play for you and what does it say for MSE and EME below it?

Download the Opera installer, launch it, click "options", set "install path" to a folder named "Opera Test" on your desktop, set "install for" to "standalone installation", uncheck "import data from default browser" and install. Test in that Opera but do not install any extensions and do not enable Opera sync.
How do things work there?

You can goto the URL
opera://settings/system
, turn off hardware acceleration, restart and try again. If that doesn't help, turn it back on.Then, if you want, you can play with these flags:
opera://flags/#d3d11-video-decoder
opera://flags/#use-angle

I tried multiple videos on the site, but couldn't find one that doesn't work.

What does
opera://media-internals
say after trying to play the video? -

You can also hit ctrl + shift + i to load developer tools and look in the console to see if there are any errors.

Maybe it's a Win7-only issue though, so hopefully someone else can test too.
It might be something outside Opera like security software that's interfering in some way.

You can test in Vivaldi too. If it also doesn't play the videos, it's probably an issue with how Vivaldi and Opera use the Windows Media Foundation to play proprietary media.
Also, even though I didn't need to use it, try
opera://flags/#chromium-ua-compatibility
to see if it helps you. If it doesn't, turn that off and use https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/user-agent-switcher-5/ to set a custom UA string of exactlyMozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/77.0.3865.120 Safari/537.36
to see if it makes a difference.
