What percentage of people are adapting well to the new Opera?

Way too much rationlizing over a browser that just SUCKS. You can't say that the new Opera is good and have a straight face. If you do you aren't very smart at all. I don't care if someone gets mad over what I say. Its the truth. The old Opera was a hit. I still use it and it feels like a real browser. Even Firefox doesn't feel so good anymore. The main thing is looking up and not seeing a customized toolbar in the place we want it. The way we want it. Opera was lighter and custom. Opera is no DEAD. The new one is an imposter. It sucks balls. Some fools like being fooled. But you cant fool everyone. The biggest percentage of Opera users are using 12. I open Firefox to go to pages that Opera doesn't work on. But I always go right back to Opera. Chrome engine gets heavier as it sets. It lacks features. Just plain SUCKS. You cant prove me wrong without writing 1000+ words of BS rationalizations and rhetoric.

I have the bookmarks working fine with two extensions, Add bookmarks, and Chrookmarks for Chrome. What I heard is that with Opera 25 you get a choice -- the enhanced bookmarks or Stash. I think I'll choose Stash. You could do the same if you have the bookmarks feature working fine with a few extensions.

Hi. Had been using Opera since 2005. Now I switched to Firefox. I miss "fit do width" and "toggle images" in new Opera. Hope these can be included soon, then I will reconsider using Opera. It has not been easy for me, Opera 12.x had everything just right in terms of features (even a torrent client!), the new version just would not work for me.

I wonder what kind of research did they conduct, or did they decide to take a leap of faith with this. No bookmarks...they must be very confident in themselves, in their role as the innovators or pioneers..

Don't expect logic from the complainers, Raphael. I pointed out the delicious irony some time back. They HATE Chrome... Opera is nothing but a clone of Chrome and so what do they do? They abandon Opera for Chrome. LOL There is no logic. They're unwilling to try and adapt. Everything must be exactly according to the way they want things even though the browser is freely given to them. My attitude is: let the whiners go and good riddance. Opera is doing well with new users and will continue to develop into a much better browser than before.

Check out "Slimjet" if you want the options this Opera should have, It's the New One in town, it took the Direction that this Opera failed to take. I garantee you this New Browser will become big and the most popular browser out there and Opera WILL take notice of it's popularity and maybe take a more logical direction for it's browser

Because fuck logic!" -> fit to width, toggle images and torrent client were dealbreakers which made me use Opera 12.x even with minor site compatibility issues. Since these are gone at the moment, I chose to use Firefox now because it feels like a more finished browser, less bugs, feels faster and has more customization options than the current Opera. But no need to feel hurt and "fuck logic", because Opera still has a special place in my heart and I surely will evaluate it from time to time and adopt the new version as soon as it gets better than the rest of the pack (which I hope is to be soon).

I have been misjudging the current opera. 23, the one I'm using, is no 12, but it manages to deal with the web pages, which is the primary! The lack of many, MANY features was frustrating at first, but with the help of this forum I've actually managed to muster together something with extensions.. I still do feel 23 is missing some stuff, but for the basic and primary needs it does better than 12. I accept the changes because I accepted that 12 is useless a long time ago, when I switched to firefox. And I don't need to use firefox anymore! :yes: With that, it is a shame how animus of an experience the transition from 12 to 23 has been made for users..This is not friendly, rather violent. But, in the end, it works AFTER you get to know the new. So, I want to thank this forum, and namely @lem729 for guiding me and others. Might be weird or pompous of me to write this, but I don't care; after bitching so much on this forum (though, not without a reason) I feel like also bringing out the ups.

Well, I have been using the new opera since july now since 12 had more and more problems on web pages.
I had been using opera for years, even paying for it. So have now used it as primary on 4 computers for almost 2 months.
A few notes:
The good:
-Not having to use chrome on pages that did not work in 12- The "not responding" problem seems to have gone
- Big+ keyboard pop up on the tablet
-stash
-forced to use lastpass
The bad:
-No sync for bookmarks, passwords. Having to use xmarks.
-No bookmarks and side panel
-no mail, dislike having to use another mail client. Did miss a few emails the first week since I was used to be notified in opera.Did check the dev 25, and happy to see the "show all bookmarks" page, so have to wait for that to be stable.

Now the Bank of Scotland tells me that my browser is antiquated and they recommend that I should use IE, Firefox, Safari, or Chrome. But I do not want to. What can I do?

Bookmarks are best accessed from multiple browsers. Its clear that no browser can be best at everything. Its just too complex these days. And bookmarks can be thousands if not tens of thousands in numbers. How to manage? By a VERY well thought out program just for that.

And how about the Opera Mail stand alone program. Does it work better in any way than Mail in Opera 12? It wasn't a top quality thing but it was pretty good and for most people more than adequate for their needs. Guess we just get used to some stuff.My needs are relatively limited so, yes, I do find everything I need via extensions.
The Opera Mail standalone program IS the exact same mail program that was present in Opera 12. It simply has the browser and other features hidden. Be aware that there are indications that Opera will abandon this program at length so you might want to reconsider your default mail program and consider something like The Bat or Thunderbird. Otherwise, Opera Mail standalone should suit your needs for the foreseeable future.

I've always hated Chrome because so many things are not possible compared to Opera. Then Opera uses the foundation of Chrome for their new product. Ugh. Its like Ferrari using a Toyota frame and drivetrain for their next product.
Never mind the fact that webpage rendering is SO much better with the latest Opera. This typical comment is clearly based on a hatred of Google because the old Opera rendering engine had so many issues. Personally for me, any engine that makes the browser better at webpage rendering is welcome.

- Install and use one of their recommended browsers, if only for that bank site.
- Install and try out one of the new versions of Opera on that site.
- Try spoofing the site by identifying/masking Opera 12.17 as Firefox or IE.
- Contact your bank and try to persuade them not to block usage of Opera 12.17.
- Move your account to a bank whose site is more compatible with older browsers.
My own bank did a major website upgrade several years ago, which refused to work properly with Opera thereafter... I could get just halfway through my two-part log-in procedure, but it would suddenly "time out" and toss up an access error. No amount of persuasion would convince the bank to fix their site's code to accomodate Opera, and changing banks wasn't an option for me... so I've had to use IE or Firefox for their site ever since. In many banks' view of things, 97% of their customers employ Chrome, Firefox, or IE anyhow, and so they refuse to code or proof their sites for lesser-used browsers. It's just a sad reality at present.

You can make yourself a custom html with certain bookmarks, place it as a bookmark in your Opera, then one click - open the html bookmark, the other - "Open with..." there.

Years ago I used URL-Album, browser independent program. Then I get to the delicio.us, which is cross-browser website. It's possible to use Evernote, I think. But in no circumstances they can replace browser bookmarks.
