@notorious7302 By side bar I mean the messenger that opens when you click on the messenger icon, in the vertical bar at the left of the screen.
You mentionned you could get dark reader to darken this as well.
I wish to do this, so I asked you for how you did it, if at all.

        Thank you

Hi ! I managed to find a solution to display sidebar messenger in dark. I installed the "Install Chrome Extensions" from Opera's addon page and then I installed the "Messenger Dark Theme" from Jerry1100 of Chrome Web Store and it works like a charm for me now.

          Hope that may help someone.

@kubito as I tried - extension "Stylish" used to work for sidebar apps. But now stylish has problem with working at all.

On you right upper corner click on Easy Setup, and then scroll down to see "Features"

Turn on "Forced Dark Pages" and then turn on "GX Corner Sidebar"

                  Done

I went to Features and there is no "forced dark pages" nor "GX Corner Sidebar"

@aymericg man just turn on force dark pages from opera settings
I know it may not work fine on some websites but its better than getting blinded while you are deciding to check messenger at night))

You can turn off the Force Dark Pages on the side bar and click the "Configuration" bellow it. From there you click "Add" on the Enable panel then input
                          https://www.messenger.com
                          2229ca8c-dd8c-4dad-a3bf-32510dafc950-image.png

In this way you can specify that the messenger sidebar on OperaGX would only be applied with the force dark page feature

That extension no longer appears to work in the side bar, however this one appears to work

I use the built-in "force dark page" of Opera GX and the messenger on the side bar is in Dark Mode.
Go on the website https://www.messenger.com , right click and activate force dark page.

Here's a working way to get dark mode. Opera Gx added a new feature where you can force sites to dark mode by right-clicking and select β€œForce dark page” on the site.
Because the sidebar uses the official Facebook Messenger site, go to messenger.com and force dark page it. Then your sidebar will also apply dark mode.

I hope this works for you guys too!

@david27 This also worked for me now. I turned on advanced keyboard shortcuts as well, and assigned a keyboard shortcut to force dark pages...seems (so far) when going that route that it is page by page - might be the mods/flags I have on too. But thank you so much πŸ’– for this hack!! Was legit blinding myself and SO.
