I am having the same problem, not at you tube, but at other sites like hulu, history channel, etc. I have the
I am running Snow Leopard, but have a lion os cd coming in the mail, plus 4 gig of memory coming since lion is more cumbersome. I can't upgrade pass lion on this box,
I ran the adobe uninstaller, and also ran terminal to find adobe which I
hate and remove all versions from the library. I reinstalled adobe's latest version, I found
going to adobe preview pane and selecting not running auto, but click to run helps.
Then click on video as it runs and select quality, stepping it down helps, sometimes
you can't select it especially at history channel as the menu for adobe freezes often.
deselect enable hardware acceleration, and up the amount of local data it can save on your box.
this works about 50 percent of the time. At you tube using mac tubes helps. deselect enable
java plugs in your browser. Java's plug in is very serious security issue and they've stop
supporting it for any machine older than 5 years old in macs. Plugs need to go the way of the dodo as they are a serious threat even for brand new machines and os's.
By the way, if you have a video downloader like download helper, etc, let the video freeze and just download the video and play it outside the browser. Just save it to your desktop. This is more secure anyway.

ps. using https only add on will aggravate matters. you need to add a rule for you tube so it will only operate when you log in to your account, not when you are streaming videos. you can't force google to stream its videos https. it doesn't work yet
Plug in checker is pointless if someone like sun java or adobe flash/shockwave aren't updating for your os anymore. Unless your willing to get on Apple's endless consumer treadmill and buy a new computer every four years.
I have snow leopard and they act like its windows 98. Xp is still supported by Microsoft for security updates its on the longterm part of the release now.
Ironically I also have a powerpc g4 laptop and use ten forty fox browser, and it has no plug ins in it. But I am able to still view videos without them using the work arounds the ten forty fox community supplies. check it out. mactubes, quicktime enabler etc.
It is no longer save to use java plug in or adobe on a ppc box. You can remove them from your browsers esp Safari and still be safe and still view videos. Opera I guess has abandoned ppc users even for powerful boxes like G5's and Pros. I still prefer Opera to Safari for macs since Apple in its wisdom, like Google and Chrome, won't let you grab videos. Opera will. The internet is my tv. no cable no satellite. -

I'm having this problem. It usually happens when my macbook pro uses the high performance GPU. Will happen randomly, sometimes when there is no flash. I have a screenshot.

As stated above, I'm using Opera 23.0.1522.75 (update from 23.0.1522.60) and Flash 14.0.0.145 on Mac OS X 10.9.4 64-bit.
As for opened apps, I use XCode/Sublime Text/MAMP/ADT, one or more, depending on what I am working on + Terminal/Adobe Reader/iWorks apps/VBox (again, one or more, depending on what I am working on) + Photoshop/Illustrator/GImp (same like the others) + Vox music player and Messages for Y!, FB and GTalk and OneDrive (I'm using these all at once, along side other set of apps). I'm also trying to keep Opera opened with under 15 tabs. -

I'm having the same problem with Shockwave. And it doesn't matter how many tabs I have open. Pretty annoying. None of my other browsers do this, only Opera.

So, for those of us with Mac OS 10.6.8 is the game over with Opera? I uninstalled Flash, but that didn't help, I still get slow-downs and the beastly Flash message. Safari no longer works, Chrome does on a good day...
I can't update the OS because I'd have to do without Eudora

I will say I haven't experienced it on Opera stable since upgrading to 23.0.1522.75, but it seems like others have. Whenever I upgrade to a new version, it seems to get better than gradually the crashes increase, although that may be in my head. I can't really say what's triggering it, but seems to be at least occasionally youtube and sometimes sites affiliated with sbnation.com that have embedded video on the home page, for example libertyballers.com is one I visit often that seems trigger the crash from time to time.
I'm on OSX 10.7.5.
Other apps I usually have open include itunes, caffeine, sparrow lite, twitter, bettertouchtools, growl, alfred. I haven't had occasion to check activity monitor at the moment of a crash, but it doesn't seem to affect anything else or slow things down for very long. I would guess I normally have 6-8 tabs open when this happens with at least a couple including flash content and the crash affects any tab with a video -- i get a banner saying shockwave has crashed, reload page.

Flash just released an update a few days ago. Haven't had the problem since then.
Now lets just get opera to sync correctly..

The dialog is meant to allow you to force-quit any plug-in that is running rampantly in the background and stealing your computer’s resources. Please contact the plug-in vendors (in this case Adobe) if you see this dialog often. Opera is making a browser, not a browser plug-in.
(The alternative is letting the plug-ins just eat your MacBook’s battery in the background without you understanding why you get the Low Battery warning after only ten minutes of use.)

Similar problem here. After my Mac goes to sleep both Shockwave and Google Talk pop up with "Shockwave / Google Talk has stopped responding." I then need to reload whatever pages were using these plugins.

Having the problem again. Constantly. I like this browser because of the clean speed dial / stash. May have to look for alternatives soon if there is no update.

OPERA - WAKE UP! PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN ONGOING IN THIS FORUM FOR 2 MONTHS. SHOCKWAVE PROBLEMS HAPPEN CONTINUALLY. I HAVE LATEST MAC OS, LATEST SHOCKWAVE, MY CACHES ARE CLEARED.
OPERA - THE PROBLEM IS AT YOUR END. I LIKE YOUR BROWSER A LOT BUT YOU WILL LOSE ME AS A CUSTOMER SOON IF YOU DON'T FIT THIS PROBLEM.
VERY ANNOYING THAT OPERA DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A PROBLEM INSTEAD OF SHIFTING IT ONTO (DUMB, OUT OF DATE) CUSTOMERS.
GRRRR. IM SICK OF THIS SHOCKWAVE ANNOYANCE. -

This really is past being merely annoying. The 'disable Shockwave' popup is popping up many times every day in a variety of tabs with any number of different websites. I have reïnstalled Opera as well as the Shockwave plugin—all to no avail. That plugin must be enabled for lots of web content so leaving it off (as I might prefer to do, given the choice) is unfortunately not a viable option. I'm a longtime user of Opera but may soon find myself a former user if this isn't corrected very soon. There are lots of other browsers out there.
