You forgot a step
After installing the addons, open this:
chrome-extension://mjfahldkpjhcnfbbmdhpjolcjpcfhcpj/options.html
then replace custum url with this:
chrome-extension: //pncpfofkienlinhfknpmgjnjhdoclfhh/newtab.htmland then you have the Speed Dial start page back
And read the Bible

When I change the custom URL and I hit SAVE at the bottom it changes automatically to chrome-extension://mjfahldkpjhcnfbbmdhpjolcjpcfhcpj/boogle.html

@monky It works. But only in standard Opera. I hoped it would work in Opera GX, but it unfortunatelly doesn't.

Agree. As Opera is based on Chrome and FVD works fine on Chrome surely Opera can manage to get it to work, too.

@dantealfaro it does work for Opera GX that's what I'm currently using. What OS are you on? Windows? Apple?

I tried that trick with the speed dial story, but it didn't work, unless I missed a step.

from what I've heard it's a choice of Opera to no longer process a code (I think) related to this type of service, basically, by personal deduction, you come to Opera you'll have to use it in its entiretyBecause for info Brave is also based on Chrome and FVD works perfectly on tabs by default.

Have either of you tried following each of these steps below one by one? And if so what is the error or issue your still having? Because this solution has already been proven to work for most other people that followed these steps.
Here they are again for you to double check if you'd like -
Start by installing Chrome extension called
"New Tab Start Page" linked here --->https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/new-tab-start-page/mjfahldkpjhcnfbbmdhpjolcjpcfhcpj
Simply install this and set FVD Speed Dial as your New Tab option during setup
Next make sure to follow the additional steps outlined below and shown in the linked YouTube video that @monky was so awesome to provide for everyone needing additional help.

Final steps to get this to work......
Open this

then change this

with this
