        Visit extension's website
        This extension may have been corrupted.
        We've identified this extension as malicious and have blacklisted it. This means it can no longer cause any damage to your machine. You can leave it as is, or remove it.

        This is what the extension says - I've been using it for years, and this is the first upgrade that has had this response from opera

            @loulou6: Same problem. Opera won't let me use it. Same error message. And I get an annoying "FB Purity has been added to your extensions" popup message every few minutes, even though it's not working. Frustrating.

              @zione I went to the fb homepage and had a rummage in the comments, apparently Steve can't get to a computer for a few days :*( I'm using E (spit) until he's back and hopefully fixes it !

              Not sure about the pop up messages though ? But I do have Adblock (free version) running on my Opera browser and that stops pop-ups and normal adverts elsewhere on the internet ??

                  My workaround is uninstall 38.4 go the Chrome Webstore https://chromewebstore.google.com.
                  Search for Fluff Busting Purity and install 38.3.

                      @loulou6 No because Opera only updates Opera Extensions not Chrome Extensions.
                      I run some Chrome Extensions as they are not available for Opera.

                          @loulou6: Yeah, it's not an ad popup. It's the Opera popup that alerts me that I've installed a new extension. But it keeps popping up over and over. No way to shut these off it seems, but definitely buggy.

                            @zione I must have clicked something in settings for opera, as I never get pop-ups from them except when it needs updating and i get a little white dot on the O(top left of the browser) ??? god knows what I did though - worth looking at your settings ?? but try out what @fitzydj posted above, it works for our problem 🙂 just remember to uninstall fbp first 🙂

                              @fitzydj: Thank you! I couldn't find any version but 38.4, but installing the extension from the Chrome store instead of the Opera store worked. Although I had to go and redo all my settings, because it claimed I was installing it for the "first time," which is annoying, but at least it works now. Appreciate the tip.

                                @zione I export my settings onto a text file just in case of a complete re-installation.

                                  @fitzydj: this is correct. if it stopped working in opera, add extension from chrome store to opera.

                                    @fitzydj: Did not work for me. My Opera refused to install Fluff Busting Purity from the Chrome Webstore ("bad site content"), and downloading from "Opera addons" gives the same "damaged" extension that cannot be "repaired". (( If Opera marked this extension as bad, why it is still in "Opera addons"? ))

                                        @phill This is for everybody:

                                        For those of you who are still struggling with the extension, e.g. constant notification from Opera saying you have installed the extension, cannot install etc etc. This is the solution:

                                        Find on facebook the authors page "Fluff Busting Purity Development & Testing" Look in the first post dated 15.1.2026 within the post you will find a link and he tells you how to get it going. The link ends with "fbpurity.user.js". Uninstall your current version first, when you run this link, it will take you to (In my case) TemperMonkey straight away, and you install the extension there. FBP will be installed but without going through Opera's extension app, so no notification will ever pop up. If you want to deinstall it you have to do it through the script manager.
