Manually enter cert for website

We have a few servers in our network with either self-signed certs or certs that dont match the hostname. Of course whenever I goto one of these sites I get:
Your connection is not private
This server could not prove that it is hostname.domain.com; its security certificate is not trusted by your computer's operating system. This may be caused by a misconfiguration or an attacker intercepting your connection.NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID
I know I can click thru the warnings but id rather not see them at all. I googled it and read that I needed to add a CA for the cert under 'Manage certs". What would the CA be on a self-signed cert?
I tried adding the cert to "your certs", "servers", and "authorities" but they all either gave me an error or did nothing.
Could someone point me in the right direction?
