Using Opera (56.0.3051.99) and Ubuntu 18.04 (Gnome shell version)

If I click on the 'Download button' (top right),

      https://www.deviantart.com/ducklordethan/art/Stan-the-Man-772431883

Opera hangs for about 5 minutes with the HDD spinning wildly.

Expected behaviour is for it to open a new window with the image in a new tab.

Chrome and FF both work flawlessly!

Are you using opera's vpn or some weird extension?
No problems here (debian testing x64, openbox and opera 56.0.3051.10, updated today).

Nope still same problem! - Also exists with a fresh profile..

If I right-click the button and open link in new tab / window; it works flawlessly!

Maybe the built in adblock then? Try disabling it for a test.
For the record and hardware wise, I am on an ssd. on an old intel core 2 duo and I have opera's cache in ram.
