Forgot Sync Password

Is there really no way to recover the password used in syncing login info from websites? I could not remember and all the passwords of the sites I visit are stored there. Please help. I don't want to reset sync since it seems to remove all your data from what I understand. Why can't people change the password used in syncing site login data?
