As another long term Opera user, I also wonder what is the problem with Savefrom.net Helper extension? Opera listed the extension in the start page of Opera Addons in years. If it's really security issues why did Opera serve the Savefrom.net in previous years? I want to learn more details about this issue!
SaveFrom.net is also open source; you can view its code here: https://download.sf-helper.com/chrome/helper.user.js
ps. Dear Opera users, if you still want to use SaveFrom.net you can install it as a Tampermonkey script on Opera.

The SaveFrom.net extension has been disabled by Opera. What other alternative? I tested as 3 most popular and NONE worked. What do you recommend?

Thanks for the info! Using this method isn't as simple as getting the Savefromnet extension from the plugin store so below I add a short tutorial for lost souls:
- Install tampermonkey extension from the Opera store
- LMB on the tampermonkey icon which has just appeared next to the address bar and choose Get New Scripts
- At the newly opened website choose Greasy Fork
- Search for Savefromnet (I chose https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/33581-savefrom-net-helper)
- Click on it and click on Install This Script. Finish.
This way Savefromnet won't be visible at the Opera extension bar, but it still works when browsing YT.

You interfered with my usage of Opera and gave a misleading reason ("We've identified this extension as malicious and have blacklisted it. This means it can no longer cause any damage to your machine. You can leave it as is, or remove it."). You are blatantly lying and i am not amused!

@leocg And I add: "...without giving us any kind of explanation beyond a simple phrase for dummies."
This is the reality.

I guess since we all know there were no security issues, i'd suspect they have been contacted by those extremists who are trying to establish censorship everywhere, and the intention of that blacklisting is to hinder popular downloads and reuploads.
EDIT: Since this happened to SaveFrom for Chrome too, this decision seems to be somehow related to the censorship policies of Google/Youtube. It is known that a pressure group lead by the Podesta bros. is trying to influence the American midterm elections this way, because the democrat party believes that Youtube-videos caused their defeat at the 2016 elections. There was an official statement of a representative from the Podesta group.
This is a political issue not a technical one.

@keeeper One working alternative for Savefrom.Net is Video Downloader Pro addon. It's still on Opera Addons Catalog. You can install the extension here: https://addons.opera.com/tr/extensions/details/all-in-all-downloader/

I'm so tired of this bullshit. I've used Opera since day one, but ever since they got into bed with Google Chrome, they've just crapped all over their users. They just don't care. It's time for another browser, I guess.

Is it only me or SaveFrom.net Helper came back to the store and is working well again?

@keeeper That's right, also appear again enabled and works well as always. It seems that Opera Browser is finally aware of the turmoil caused by blocking add-ons without transparency or reasons to do it.
Thanks Opera for taking into account the opinion of the users and showing why you are still the best browser that exists.
