      I installed yesterday the Opera extension "PDF Viewer, version 1.0.23 by Opera Software" and it's what I was looking for because I can open PDF files in an Opera tab. The few times I've used it, it has worked great for me. https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/pdf-viewer/?display=en

      However, when I look at my plugins at Opera:plugins, I don't see this new Opera extension as a plugin, which puzzles me a bit.

      And also, I had as enabled the: Adobe Reader Version: 11.0.06.70 -- Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 11.0.06. I was wondering if I should be disabling that Adobe PDF reader? And then I was thinking that this Opera PDF extension, may not technically be a plugin (Opera treats it as an extension), but that it is using that Adobe plugin to work?

      However, when I did in fact disable the Adobe PDF reader, the Opera extension, "PDF Viewer," still seems to work fine. Therefore, should I keep the PDF viewer disabled in Opera:Flags? Or is there a reason to keep it enabled?

          opera://plugins is for NPAPI plug-ins. The pdf viewer is an extension (that just uses JS and doesn't make use of any NPAPI plugins).

          It doesn't use the Adobe plug-in and you can disable the adobe one if you don't need to use it at all.

            Thanks! I'll keep it disabled then. I don't want to slow the browsing down. 🙂 I thought maybe there might be some secondary use of the Adobe that I wasn't aware of. As long as that Opera pdf viewer is working for me, I don't think I need another vehicle to read pdf files.

                I've had a few posts in various threads hat posted successfully, were there for a while and then were gone. I know there was nothing wrong with those posts, so I was assuming there's some glitch.

                  @linuxmint7

                  I did see your post, then it was gone, but thanks as it gave me the idea to test by disabling the Adobe plugin, and seeing if the Opera pdf reader still worked. The case of the disappearing posts 😉 Sounds like title for a mystery or just a bug in the forum . . .

                      I never saw your post, rafaelluik. I'll assume this thread got resolved okay, as it is. If not, please add your comment.

                        Ah!, I see, I thought I might have been the only one affected, or possible over-moderation (which rafaelluik has confirmed it is not). I guess there's a possibility we may have a forum poltergeist!!, Wwwoooooooaaaaahh!!!. #Cough#
