Speed Dial Thumbnails Not Showing

I just opened Opera for the first time in a little while, and the speed dial is practically bare. The thumbnail links are all there, and they do connect, but almost all of the pictures are missing. What's going on? Did an Opera update screw things up? Is this the result of some kind of Internet business/license dispute, or a change in access for the sites that put up the thumbnails--or for Opera to take the snapshots, if that's how it works? Why are the thumbnails not being rendered?
