Still no solution how to stop animations?
For some years I haven't used Opera for that reason. Flipping animated GIF and others disturbs me utterly.

Firefox has reintroduced the possibility to run animations once. If that were an option in Opera, I could consider using it as my standard browser.

@goradevik Try checking the 'autoplay policy' flag, maybe it can help.

I am interested in that too! What do I have to set opera://flags/#autoplay-policy to in order to stop the endless loop of animations?
I tried all of the options but no one seems to work.
